Rachel’s Story

I've been working with flowers since I was 17, starting at a grocery store floral department in my hometown and eventually becoming assistant manager at a flower shop in Milwaukee. After moving to Charlotte in 2018, I tried the corporate world but quickly realized my heart was elsewhere—I was meant to be creating with flowers and building genuine relationships with people celebrating life's biggest moments.

What started as Rachel Hiemer Studio has evolved into Little Dove Floral, where I focus purely on what I love most: collaborating with couples to create original wedding florals that feel authentically theirs. After years of juggling both printmaking and florals under one brand, I realized each deserved its own space to flourish.

Now, as a mom of two boys, I've built Little Dove Floral around what matters most to me: creating beautiful work while being present for my family, and forming genuine connections with couples who value creativity and collaboration.

Meet the Team

Jess Abrams

Studio Manager & Floral Assistant

Growing up, I was around flowers through my grandmother’s business, and I always loved going in and watching her create arrangements for people to enjoy. I remember being fascinated by how she could take a handful of flowers and turn them into something so beautiful.

I love how flowers can make a moment feel extra special and bring so much beauty to a space. Being around them growing up made me appreciate the creativity and care that goes into every arrangement.

As a florist assistant, I help bring wedding designs to life by prepping, assisting with arrangements, and ensuring everything comes together beautifully behind the scenes. It’s really special getting to be part of such an important day for couples. I love seeing how flowers can completely transform a space and help create memories!

Fun fact about Jess:

  • Born and raised on Long Island, NY

  • Spent three years in Florida before making the move to Charlotte in 2025

  • A Wingate University grad with a bachelor’s in Exercise Science

  • Usually accompanied by my dog, Captain

  • You can find me going on walks, exploring new restaurants, and trying new activities around Charlotte

  • Especially happy anywhere outside, bonus points if there’s water nearby

I was born in West Bend, Wisconsin, and moved to the Carolinas with my family in high school and have loved living here since! I’ve always been drawn to creativity in many forms. I’m a ceramicist, baker, and artist, and I love finding ways to bring beauty and imagination into everyday life.

Nature is a big part of who I am. I’m a reptile enthusiast and love discovering interesting plants in the wild, finding inspiration in the small details of the natural world.

I split my time between the kitchen and the studio. I work as the kitchen manager at Amelie’s, and I also help bring wedding visions to life with Little Dove Floral, prepping blooms, assisting with arrangements, and helping create those unforgettable moments that flowers make possible. Whether it’s shaping clay, baking, or arranging flowers, I love connecting with creativity, nature, and the world around me.

Fun Facts about Megan:

  • Usually followed around by my husky, Obe

  • Living with a small crew of reptiles, including a monitor lizard, snakes, and turtle!

  • You can find me hiking and stopping every five minutes to admire plants and beautiful fungi

  • Weirdly excited about grocery shopping (truly a favorite activity)

  • Rachel’s little sister

  • Making pottery on the side, often inspired by whatever plants or nature I’ve been obsessing over lately
