Garden Wedding Inspiration at Separk Mansion | Charlotte, NC Wedding Venue

There’s something really special about a venue that already feels alive before you add a single flower. That’s exactly what we love about Separk Mansion in Gastonia, NC. This is hands-down one of our favorite outdoor wedding venues near Charlotte, NC. The gardens there aren’t just a backdrop, they are manicured for each and every day.

If you’re searching for a Charlotte wedding venue with outdoor space that feels both elegant and natural, Separk Mansion is such a hidden gem just outside the city. It has a layered, romantic energy that already feels curated. It feels secluded and like it’s own little oasis within Gastonia.

When Little Dove Floral partnered on this styled shoot, we kept coming back to one idea: how do we design florals that feel like they belong here? That we could have used flowers cut directly from the garden.

Designing with the Garden, Not Against It

Garden-style florals are my jam, and venues like this are like a playground with this vibe. Layered greenery, romantic but still a little wild energy, and spaces that feel taken care of are a few reasons why this fits so well.

For this shoot, we leaned fully into that garden-forward, slightly “old money” aesthetic: elevated but effortless.

We used a mix of really special blooms, some of which were locally sourced (which I’m always obsessed with when we can make it happen). Think:

  • Tulips with that soft, bendy movement

  • Hellebores (one of my forever favorites for that moody, early-season texture)

  • Fritillaria for a little unexpected shape

  • Westminster garden roses (pale purple and so lush)

  • Amaranthus for a trailing, romantic drape

  • Butterfly ranunculus for lightness and dimension

Every flower was chosen to feel like it could exist naturally in the gardens—nothing too stiff, nothing too perfect.

The Pergola Installation (aka one of my favorite details)

Instead of a symmetrical arch moment, we designed an asymmetrical installation on the pergola to keep things feeling organic and a little unexpected.

One side wrapped around the column, almost like it had been growing there forever. The other side climbed up from the base, creating this grounded, natural movement that drew your eye without overwhelming the structure.

It’s a perfect example of how garden-style wedding flowers can enhance an outdoor wedding venue near Charlotte, NC without competing with it.

Garden-Style Bridal bouquet

Bridal Bouquet: Airy, Loose, and a Little Wild

The bouquet followed that same philosophy—natural, airy, and loose, with soft hanging elements that gave it movement.

Nothing overly structured. Nothing too tight.

We wanted it to feel like something you could have gathered from the garden, just elevated slightly. Like: effortless, but intentional.

Reception Details That Let Each Flower Shine

For the sweetheart table, we played with negative space and floral “drips” so each bloom had room to speak for itself. Instead of packing everything in, we blocked sections of flowers to highlight texture and shape.

We also incorporated grapes on the tables (which I will never get over—they add this subtle, layered richness that feels very European garden party in the best way).

The centerpieces were designed as three individual arrangements that worked together as one. This kept the tablescape dynamic and interesting from every angle, while still feeling cohesive.

It’s one of my favorite ways to design for a garden wedding venue in North Carolina—structured enough to feel intentional, but still relaxed.

Why Your Florist Choice Matters (Especially for a Garden Venue)

Here’s the thing we always tell our couples:

Picking your venue isn’t just about finding a beautiful place to celebrate. It’s about choosing a space that already has a personality, and then designing in a way that enhances it, rather than working against it.

As a North Carolina wedding florist, this is where we see the biggest difference.

Garden venues like Separk Mansion don’t need to be transformed—they need to be understood.

When your florist truly gets garden-style design, everything feels more cohesive:

  • The florals move with the space

  • The color palette feels natural, not forced

  • The designs feel like an extension of the environment

And most importantly—it feels like you, not like a copy of something you saw online.

Let’s Create Something That Feels Like You

Whether you’re planning a garden wedding in North Carolina or searching for an outdoor wedding venue near Charlotte, NC, the goal isn’t to recreate something you’ve already seen.

It’s to create something that feels like it belongs—to the space, and to you.

At Little Dove Floral, we’re always thinking about how to blend your personality with the natural beauty of your venue in a way that feels effortless and intentional.

Let’s collaborate on something that feels like it could only happen there—and only belong to you.
